I Have got a plug-in kit of 6 mini LED lights, with transformer, which i am going to fix along my stairs.
These have not come with an on/off switch!

I want to fit a switch to the 2Ccore cable, inbetween the plug and the lights.
Can anyone help, which switch do i buy?
Would prefer a wall mounted one.....
Thankyou

Alright, no need to SHOUT. (see forum rule no. 6)

Just fit a standard light switch, connected so it switches the live only. Put the two neutrals in a connector.

Are you intending to switch the power before or after the transformer? It should ideally be switched before the transformer

Thanks for the reply.
and.....this was my first question and i did amend the capitals-straight away.....i didn't know it ment shouting.
there must have been a delay in the amendment.
Sorry.

your amendment did not work.

I also suggest you read all the forum rules. Welcome aboard

ticking off accepted - thanks!

But.....

still don't know which switch to buy tho? 1way/2way/intermediate/inline/rocker?

also, i was planning to put the switch inbeween the transformer that plugs in, and the lights
ie: keep the lights plugged in and use the switch to turn lights on+off.
i presume i would splice this cable and put the switch in the break?

the cable is thin two core.

a regular two way with common L1 and L2 connections although you can get away with 1 way but they are harder to find

no, dont do this. the switch should be before the tranny.

transformer integrated into a UK 3-pin plug.

If it is so, the solution is to fit the switch so it controls a 3-pin socket below the stairs (or hidden somewhere), marked "lighting only", and plug the wall wart into this.

hi, yes the cable from the lights connects to a transformer with three pins on it, to plug straight into a uk socket.

still confused if i can connect a separate switch for these lights, or are you saying i will have to use the switch on the socket to turn these lights on and off?

I appreciate all your help people.
Thankyou

You can if you want to, but from what i can gather you will want the new switch to turn the socket (and therefore the transformer) on and off.

Is there a problem with that?

The word 'innit' does not translate into any other language.

Not even English.

Whats with the 'innit'........? came here for advice. What are you talking about? Stick to the topic in hand and stop with the insults...
please!

I would prefer to use a light switch to turn these lights on/off rather than flick the switch on the socket where the transformer will plug in.
If its possible!
Which is why im trying to find some good advice on which switch to buy and where abouts exactly to connect it.

If anyone can advise properly, with detail, i really would appreciate it.

I dont need digs 'to read the rules' or 'innit' stuff.

I need help not rudeness.
