I have been doing conversions since 1959, Perkins 4/99 into a Vauxhall Velox, I had a few petrol motors in the '60s but have been running diesels mostly ever since, mainly conversions until about '85 when I had my first Citroen CX diesel, most refined diesel I had driven, been running them ever since. Just bought a 406 Hdi, after saying I would never have one
