Does a private club have to pay extra to the supplier to be able to share the wifi with members.
I have done some googling & cant find anything.

I don't know for certain, but what's to stop me from giving my router's password to my neighbours and letting them share my connection - other than the likelihood of them slowing down my connection?

Hang on. I've just had a brilliant idea. How much do you think I should charge?

Depends how bothered you are about having the rozzers boot your door in, because of their "special interest" web-browsing..........

Isn't being part of the BT wi-fi network just this if you use the hotspots.

No... all you have to do is give the members the password.. but as somebody said if quite a lot use it then it will slow down

No................and maybe yes :? They might have to pay for extra bandwidth and want to pass that charge on.

How about reading the actual contract for services you are bound to? it's a bit like googling but guaranteed to have the answers...

I don't have the contract to read, the standard internet in my area is worse than $hit.
Yes the BT idea is a good one 'you agree to share yours & can then use others'.

ive borrowed my next doors wifi on occasions when my internet had gone down with his permission and he has done the same to me,if you do a search on your own wifi settings you may find peeps within your range with an open network, because they havnt set any kind of security to there router.

wasnt there a thing a few years back where the unscrupulous were painting different coloured squares on brickwork to let others know who had an 'open network'??

I managed to hack a few neighbours wifi's. Only ever used them when my internet's been down for a few hours. Wifi speeds are much slower than a hard wired connection though.
I can't see than it should cost the GC members anything to connect to their wifi though. As others have said, if there's lots using it, the connection speed will slow down (for those connected to the wifi)

asked the question as my prev club in London had it all over the building & it was brilliant (& still is) a good speed, you could stream tv etc.

Having wifi at the club will make the members more likely to want to stay there when they weigh up the things that keep them happy at the club. (fees aside)

Being able to check emails, browse the web etc while having a pint afterwards is handy.
