Will my newly varnished sleeper coffee table stain the carpet?

Hi diyers,

Varnished a sleeper (untreated don't worry) coffee table last night that I have been building and am all of a sudden cautious about placing it in the living room.

I don't want it to stain the carpet, no less so because it is a light carpet and only a rental!!

Should it be alright to just shut up and put in it's place? It was a quick drying 4 hour varnish so comfortably dry by now.

it wont have hardened yet place it on paper plastic what ever to protect the carpet for at least a few days

Steer clear of paper, it will stick.

Put a couple of 2x3 blocks underneath it for a week, could be a good idea to make feet on it anyway as it will squash the carpet pile.
