Whenever I connect to my wireless modem router with my laptop, my dab radio loses it's signal! Any ideas anyone?

It sounds like the WiFi signal is interfering with the DAB signal, which is odd because the two bands don't overlap, but I suppose there could be harmonics created by the WiFi access point or the client.
Whatever the problem is, I would expect the cure to be an external aerial.

You could try changing channel on the WAP - there are usually 11 to choose from in the band.
