Wiring a security light

I currently have two 70w Son dawn to dusk lights wired from the upstairs lighting ring, via an FCU. I would like to add a 500w Halogen PIR controlled light and wonder if this can be added to the existing FCU and if so what size fuse should be used.

Your 500W light will draw a little over 2 amps.
Your existing lights around half an amp

Assuming the fuse in yr FCU is 3A u should be OK.

But 500watts. Is this for Wembley or something? You'll need to be wearing

What about start-up current?

The FCU will probably have a 5A fuse in it and a BS1361 fuse should be able to cope with the inrush current.
