Yeah, I've tried replacing both with new ones.
Its getting really frustrating now!

OK. You said in your opening post that you are intending to fit a number of these. Can you rig up another fitting?

If not, go right back to basics.

1. Is the socket working?

Use a plug-in tester if possible.


Buy or borrow a digital multimeter.

Check continuity (with power off) from the plug pins through to the terminal block in the fitting.

Try your starter & tube in a known working fitting to make sure they work.

This should put you well on the way to finding the culprit.
