Wiring Hive Smart Thermostat to Combi Boiler

In fairness to Bbben, Dazzajon and the others that have made the same mistake, they are usually newbies that aren't familiar with the process.

However, it can be dangerous also. There have been a few threads where several projects were being discussed that were different. OK they were related because they were all about the same thermostat but the systems they were being connected to were different and caused confusion over which project each post related to. One in particular was where one poster thought he needed to add a link to his thermostat which was fine for the original project but would have connected 230V to 24v in his case.

Anyway as I am easily confused, :whistle: one thread per project makes perfect sense to me.

In that specific example which was answered over 5 years ago, yes they do need to be connected. If they were not, it would not work.

However that may not apply to your installation or others as different boilers are different.
