Just swept a chimney -from a Stanley range cooker (for my sins).
The folks involved are prone to burning wet timber, and keeping the fire damped down which gives heavy resin deposits in the flue.
Since the last time, they've been regularly dosing the fuel with Stovax Protector - and much to my amazement the resin has gone, and largely turned to clinker.....which came tumbling down the chimney very readily!
Worth knowing about, methinks - its got to help a chimney fire situation.
