First world problem, but solid wood floor v carpet in living and dining room? Will wood lose us heat and cause drafts? We're planning on getting it glued. House already on the cold side. Area is 55m sq. Dog and potential for nippers. Needs to be easy care and last years. Views appreciated!

The carpet will give you the warmth without a doubt, but the wood will live a lot longer, it will never be as warm as a carpet but never as cold as a tile.

Also remember with wood it can always be repaired, carpets once stained or ripped needs replacing completley.

Maybe consider engineered floor, you can place an underlay underneath that will give you a lot more thermal protection.
