Engineer in work the other day went to sort an old and battered WB hiflow\heatslave thing out and had to ring WB tech help, he gave them the GC number and they responded that it wasnt a WB GC number, the engineer then told them it is a WB theres a great big Worcester badge on the front cover! Tech help said check the data plate again, which he did and reponded that it says THORN boilers (?!?!). Tech help said yeah they've got a WB boiler and rebadged it and therefor could not offer any tech help!

Whats all this rebadging all about then?

Ha the good old days.

He did go to a worcester but they used to use a Thorn M next to a heat bank.

Sounds like he was working on a heatslave junior or senior.

What did he nee tech help for anyway?!?

So it was a Thorn boiler but a Worcester Bosch designed unit?

Cant remember why he wanted tech help - the system was powerflushed and the heating wasnt working - mentioned an inaccessible diverter valve blah blah blah....... :D .

Hes right. They sat a Thorn M boiler next to the heat bank then put a Honeywell 3 port divertor (not Mid Position) sandwiched in to the left.
Cant get enough play on the pipes to get it out.
Total barsteward but he could put a replacement internals or new head on.

I know how to change them on a highflow prob same procedure this is mine and not worcesters procedure. Undo nut that goes into heatbank and cut olive off undo pipe that is on dv going to heat bank(B port) and let it drop down into heat bank wont fall right in nut and olive from dv will stop it. Next undo nut on AB port and the A port take other nut off and take out iron elbow take out dv and while its out the way take the pipe out off the heat bank and slide a new olive onto pipe and then slide it back into heat bank fit new valve in reverse order,
Hope this makes sense.

I think that Ideal have inherited the Thorn brand.

If so then does Ideal offer technical support?
