Workshop base- trying to avoid concrete!

You might find they have a tendancy to sink into the dirt because of the point loading. A wide base like a flag would be better than those. Or a flag under them
 
Thank you for that help, I see a lot of talk about the frost line and how that can make things shift in winter. Do you have any idea if that is an issue for a 3 x 3.5m wooden structure?
 
Not for a wooden structure. Frost can heave the groung and cause it to rise fractionally. We are talking mms here which have no bearing on a structure like that. If a large slab of concrete, or a wall for example, moved a few mm however can cause cracking . A shed will move more in the wind than frost heave.
