Worlds biggest philanthropist gives a warning .....

EFLImpudence: When it comes to despising religions and royalists, I have no favourites. But the Church of England (which has merely replaced one supposed descendant of god (the Pope) with another (the Queen) should not be confused with Protestantism (which rejects all worldly gods). (Not that that makes it any less irrational.) The CoE hijacks the term 'Protestant' for the sake of self-preservation, just as the Jews hijack the term 'Semite'.

JohnD: Those are actually natural forms of birth control.

Wrong.

Killing people is one way of reducing population. Not birth.

Your ignorance is exceeded only by your inhumanity.

There is no reason, in this day and age, that someone should die of an easily curable diseases because they happen to be born on the wrong continent.
And for those who think that to help poorer countries with basic medical care/basic vaccines makes populations explode, I say go read about the connection of healthier families and the lower birth rate link.

JohnD, you said "dead babies, dead parents, and disease are not birth control method". You did not mention 'killing'. The 'methods' you mentioned are perfectly natural. (As is murder, for that matter.) Only nature kills, whether through human agency or another of its evolved methods (bacteria, virus, cancer...). All contrived by some loving God, no doubt.

Maybe I would better understand your point of view if I knew what you meant by 'inhumanity'.

I think you're missing the point entirely.
None of those things are birth control. They are population control.

Doggit thought that Gates, with his vaccines, stopped 'natures birth control'. No, Gates has helped children and their families not die a horrible death. That's not birth control as they were already born. No, Doggit thinks that what Gates does is a bad thing. Why, I can't fathom.

Blightyman: I was responding to JohnD's post, not to Doggit's. But from a rational perspective I find I must agree with Doggit too. If we regard human intervention - or any human proclivity, for instance our sexual desire, more widespread than that of any other animal - as 'unnatural', then it follows that vaccines produced by a tiny and abnormal enclave of humanity must be unnatural too. You must either accept that everything that humans do, no matter how abhorrent or offensive it seems to you, is 'natural', or you must accept that everything that humans do (like inventing nuclear bombs or vaccines) is 'unnatural'. Whichever way you choose, where does that leave you, yourself?

This isn't another reincarnation, is it?

I don't follow your logic (as usual, if it is).
I was pointing out the reason for Roger's bigotry; not defining the word. That's what they call themselves.

He not only dislikes blacks and muslims etc., but the huge majority of white Christians as well.

You're well-acquainted with Roger then, knowing him so well? I hope your belief in reincarnation is restricted to this internet dimension? Notwithstanding, I am not he. And like you, not following my logic, I do not follow yours. Especially regarding bigotry. I was brought up a Methodist and a racist, and I hope that I am not branded as either, as I have (effectively) escaped both those traps. (I entered into this fray, for heaven's sake, to oppose Roger's blatant racism! How on earth did you conclude that I am he?)

And I have several friends who were (unsuccessfully) brainwashed to be Irish Catholics who have grown to despise Catholicism (and their parents). I woudl hardly describe them as bigots. So what sort of bigot are you, supposing as you do that Roger must inevitably follow his upbringing? Like an Arab must obviously be a Jihadist?

Wow, It was late, and I was tired, and as I typed "birth control", I knew it wan't what I wanted to say, but couldn't get the right words.

I meant to type "population control", and the result of Gates well meaning intervention, was to have more poeple born into a world of suffering (hence where the "birth" came from), and now those people are struggling to escape from a greater poverty than their their parent had.

People like Gates, have great intentions, but tend to think their marvelous intentions will solve all of the problems of the world, but it often doesn't, and often causes even more problems that need dealing with afterwards.

I believe nature is wiser than we are, and manages to correct a lot of the problems that we cause in the world; and she will continue to do so long after we are gone.
