No deal is looking more likely now, and not because of failed negotiations.
The government now has a massive scapegoat for when the economy tanks - coronavirus.
Every failing, every cut in spending, every business closure, every rise in crime, every additional unemployed, will all be blamed on coronavirus.
And Brexit will be touted throughout 2021 and 2022 as the solution - "if it wasn't for leaving the EU, we'd be doomed" etc. etc. and everybody will believe every word they say.

That seems at odds with Boris Johnson saying the UK will "Prosper mightily".

Not at all - every prediction he makes turns out to be false, so it is very likely the UK will not "Prosper mightily"
