Hi all,

Just a quick question as i don't have any regs to hand. I have a mains voltage fan in Zone 1 of the bathroom which is obviously a no no. If you were to install the circuit on an RCD is this acceptable.??

Thanks

Yes you can use a 230v fan in zone 1 so long as it's RCD protected and min IPX4 (IPX5 if hosing down).
At the moment you will still have to include this circuit in the supplemental bonding!!

Thats great thanks. Am i right in saying in the 17th edition they are scrapping supplementary bonding and replacing with RCD protection to all electrics in bathrooms??
My god, every installation i test will fail...

Yeah thats fine providing the RCD is sited in a place where it is accesible to be reset if needs be, and is in the apropriate zone if sited in a bathroom.
