Its an mem. Just moved into a new house and the shower was wired into a 5 amp fuse with 15amp wire in it, but kept blowing the fuse wire. and have been told i need to replace it with the correct amp fuse and wire.

What sort of shower? How many kilowatts?Cable size?RCD protected?

Sounds like a bit of bodging has been going on, one thing for sure you should not replace a fuse with anything bigger without ensuring the existing cable and arrangements are suitable for the additional load.
I think your best bet will be to get a qualified electrician in to take a look.

30 amp fuse, then 5amp fuse, with 15amp wire,

then replace with the correct fuse and wire????

I'm a bit confused

need more coffee.

penny dropped... fuse carrier

Many fuses are sized and can only safely accept a maximum size of fusewire.

What size is the shower?

Just had a look through the achives, and came up with these fuse boxes with ceramic fuses.

Does your fuse box look like any of these?

The first two are MEM, the third is made by 'falkes' (No I havn't either)

RF, the second "MEM" looks quite a common type, I think I've converted those to Cartidge fuses in the past (MEM used to sell a dark brown cartridge holder that fitted it to replace the porcelain rewirable one)

John, This is the fusebox pictured above with the cover on.

very neat.

Basement of a block of flats, is it?

Its a 5 storey office block. One switch fuse for each office. Each floor has two offices.

Can't lay claim to that install. It's older than me
