Just wondering if it is possible to take a 125Amp 3 phase socket off from a 200A 3ph incoming in a d0m3st1c installation? Like tails to the CU? And what price I should expect from this!

**Not planning on touching anything myself.. Just seeing if there is point getting a qualified electrician out**

TIA

Just in case you don't believe me about 3 ph in my house!

EDIT: Is that between 40 and 100amp per phase?

Oh right. I'm confused because this is the main breaker:

Photos taken froma distance rather than that close up would help. We can get an idea of the overall intake position then.

It looks like typical direct metering and not CT which indicates a supply of 100amp or less.

Where is MCCB located? It could just be the main isolator for a distribution board?

What do you want to put a 125amp TP socket in for? Are you anticipating that sort of loading?

There is a private party for 300 people in a marquee the size of a tennis court. Would prefer direct power rather than a gennie.

So that includes: catering, lighting, sound, toilets, outdoor lighting.. etc

Post some more pics of your service head and meter. Also a snap of the 3 phase board and whole setup would be usefull for us to make any further recommendations.

Also what amount of power have all of the people who are supplying the lighting, sound, catering equipment etc requested?
Caterers can be fun!
I take it they are organising the distros between them?
What is the type of the supply system - TN-S, TN-CS or TT ?

Even if you do have a three phase supply available, it will be pretty expensive to fit a CT meter and dist. board, temporary or otherwise. Or are you saying you already have a 3-phase board fitted?

If 100A 1ph isn't enough for what you need then go for a gennie.

I would have thought that the caterers could run on gas. What supply have the sound company asked for?

As stated, it's very unlikely you have a 200A 3ph incomer. Still, from what you've described, I'd be very suprised if you really do need 125A*3, I'd expect more like 63A 3ph would be more than enough. Unless you're organising a small rock concert, that is!

Caterers want a 63amp single phase socket. Then outdoor lighting and party lighting & sound require the other two phases. The reason it will be like this is because I don't want to use any of my ring mains because the wiring in my house is awful. The electricians did a half hearted job when they installed it.

My SHOP has a 125A 400V incomer. And we have three big compressors that draw 17A per phase, as well as 8 fully loaded lighting circuits, 10 smaller single phase compressors, an oven that draws 11A per phase, and 30 metres of remote refrigeration and 5 air conditioners (cooled by compressors, above).

I dont think a temperary marquee setup for 300 folk will draw quite as much, TBH. You wont need half the lighting (not dark long anyway), perhaps a couple of kws if that. cooking may be gas, dj wont be much more than 20-30 amps.
