Hi guys,
can any of the older boys tell me what make/type the attached image is? I have a feeling they are imperial not metric, but as I need to change 20 of them, I need to know before I start!
also, presuming that they are imperial, where is the best place to buy new ones and what price do they start at. I am presuming they are 1/2¨ in and 3/4¨out.
cheers,
Ben

not impperial just old type (Was there imperial TRV,s ?) buy new Trv + Lockshield packs and change the rad tails at the same time as this will bring them up to metric.
Even if im wrong and the pipe (flow/return) which goes into the TRV is 1/2" imperial you will be fine on soldered or compression 15mm joints anyway (Soldered fittings will be really tight).

How many rad valves have you changed before?
Nothing unusual about these at all!
You will get some seriously funny looks if you go into a merchants and ask for
1/2¨ in and 3/4¨out

Any TRV's for 15mm pipe will do.

Old Draytons.

Half inch tail and a 15mm compression.

What is so difficult?

Paul.

sorry guys but unless I am looking at a different photo to the one posted, this TRV is a ½” pipe to ¾” female rad, isnt it??

Look at BSS catalogue they supply an own brand BOSS TRV which is heavy duty, can be locked at a fixed setting and will be a straight swap for the what I think are old Satchwell TRV's, you will need to pull the olive & nuts off the copper upstands though!

sorry guys not been on PC for days.
Steady, how many rad valves I have changed is irrelevant!! what’s with the superior, arrogant attitude, I thought we were supposed to help each other here, not show off trying to put people down? I see this too much on this forum!!
If you knew your onions, you would have noticed these are commercial valves, so

NOT!!

It's pretty obvious you are out of your depth- you are blathering on about 1/2 inch this and 3/4 inch that when you haven't got a clue what you're talking about! That is a 15mm or, yes, in old money, a half inch pipe entering that valve(makes no difference) and the union between the valve and the tail is 3/4 inch. So ferkin' what? That's standard lockshield stuff except on a trv. Again ,so what? Commercial or not, who cares, it makes not a jot of difference.

I was trying to help you by suggesting it should not present any problems but you are clearly a little over-sensitive.

Stick to cutting holes in tiles- if you've got the hang of it yet.

I think those comments are rather over the top :x the point that is being made is that the pipe is 15mm (1/2") and the rad connection looks like 1/2" bsp. so there for you can install what ever valve you want, and as for being commercial do you mean there fitted in a office because like as already been said it doesn't make a difference. So dont get on the north/south divide because we do help each other. 8)

benmaye:?
this TRV is a ½” pipe to ¾” female rad, isnt it??
No its not. :D Rads dont have a vagina or a penis as far as I know, so why this rad is female is beyond me. :x I name my car but thats just me being eccentric.

Let me put this in laymens terms. (By the way, your an abusive toss er.)

YOU REMOVE THE RADIATOR TAIL. ITS NOT PART OF THE RAD. YOU INSERT THE NEW TAIL.

Is this another troll?

If you cant work this out, you are well out of your depth.
