Problem with engineered handscraped and disressed floor

Hi. I hope I am posting my question in the right place.
Couple of weeks after installing my new engineered floor it looks like most of the filled knots are losing color and texture. The floor is an engineered oak floor hand scraped and distressed and finished with hardwax oil. I understand that filled knots are part of the aged look of the floor. However I would expect them to remain of the same darker color they originally had.
The manufacturer company reassured me that this is a normal stage in the floor ageing process which was built into the base coloring and that will continue to cure over the next months. However I am worrying that will remain unchanged if not worsening further.
Could this matter depend on manufacturing problems/defects rather than being a normal step in the ageing process of the wood? Should I carry on with my complain to the company.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Manufactureres always say that !!! but you have chosen a hand scraped, very rustick looking floor, which to me looks really good. Considering your manufacturer beat that floor with chains and hacked at it with chisels to produce that fantastic rustic effect, i wouldn't worry about the colour of the knot filler. And yes, both the flooring and the filler will change colour over time.. If you really don't like it, it can b easily changed and wax-oiled without noticing it's been done, one of the beauties of an oil finish. and for nitty gritty purposes, knots are darker than the rest of the grain so they could have used a darker filler, so mayb you have a point to argue.

i've layed hundreds of oak floors but never seen those infills next to the knots !!! all the same shape..... I'd love to know what they are ??? To me, they could have at least cut the infills in the same grain direction... They stand out more than the filler and more than a naked man on a football pitch with his hair on fire!!!

Hello and thanks for your response. It was very helpful.
I do like this floor and the rustic look. My only problem is that when I bought it the knots were darker. In fact they remained darker in most of the areas. Probably I am a bit disappointed to find out that they have used a filler of a lighter color as that changes a little the appearance of the floor.
Do you think it would be possible to apply the hardwax oil only on those areas if they don't get darker? Would it be something that I can do on my own? I do not want to risk ruining a new floor.
You say that the light color filler issue could be a point to argue with the manufacturer. What can I ask for? Unfortunately the manufacturer is miles far from where I live and I am not sure what kind of resolutions they can offer to me.

By the way those infills are part of the floor design. If I am not wrong they resemble repair patches they used to make to wood floors in the old days. I know the different grain can look odd to many people though I do not mind it at all.

Thanks again for your help.

Very sorry. It was not my intention to upload picture in that huge size. I should have checked suggestions before uploading. What can I do to resolve it? Do i need to start a new thread?

You could edit your original entry and try to upload smaller images.

Done! Thanks for the advice. I could not find the edit option. It looks much better now
