Hi,
I need to fit a switch on the wall to opperate a waste disposal machine.
What type of switch can I use. I don't need anything fancy just a plain white switch or toggle. I've got a 13a fused socket installed under the sink. An air switch is too expensive.
Thanks for your help

Hello.
What do you mean by a 13A fused socket please ? A single outlet would be 13A ? Or do you have a 'fused' spur under the sink already ??

What type of switch does the manual say the appliance needs ?

The more info you post the easier it is for others to help you.
Regards
Ed.

Sounds as if you may be going about this backwards. The normal thing to do would be to wire a 13A switched FCU or 20A DP switch straight onto the ring final (or spurred from it), with a 13A socket on the load terminals.

You can go from 13A plugtop (suitable fused) > flex > switch > waste disposal if you want, but it's a bit of a DIY lashup and not really the ideal solution.

Also, although air switches may be expensive, the price is worthwhile if it will avoid operating a switch directly when you're very likely to have wet hands.
