15mm street 'straight'?

Ok, perhaps a bit of an odd request, but is there such a thing as a 15mm street 'straight'?

I have a situation where I want to change a single panel radiator to a double. Right now, the pipework comes out of the wall about 80mm from the valves, into an elbow, 40mm of pipe, and then into the TRV/lockshield. The elbows are tight up to the wall right now, and the threaded entries on the new rad will be 16mm further away from the wall than before. This means that where the pipework exits the wall, it'll have to be extended by 16mm.

My fear is that an endfeed coupler is going to be a bit too long, although it would be ideal if there were a fitting similar to a street elbow but, well, straight! If it doesn't exist, I'll just have to trim an endfeed coupler as short as is necessary and make the joint that way.

there's no such fitting, but you can make one with a drift or pipe expander,

Thanks, will look into those, although I think a pipe expander (even to hire) may be a little expensive for the sake of this one job!

Hey Jack, I may well take you up on that, although I haven't actually ordered the rad yet (I'm only going by the dimensions in the datasheet) so would like to at least receive it and measure up for myself before taking any of your time.

Wow, didn't realise something like this could be had so cheaply. I do a fair bit of plumbing around the home and could probably see myself using something like this again in the future, so I'll give it a pop at £10.

Yes, some tight-wad plumbers use these instead of buying couplers.

If you're going to use one of them, don't cut the pipe with a slice, use a hacksaw.

Have you thought of putting a coupler on the pipe, and a street elbow into that??

Chris, I had considered your suggestion, but this is a fancy designer radiator with chrome tails. As a result, any bare copper elbows and the like are out. Straights are not a problem as I can put a chrome radsnap over them.

Of course, the less said about chrome pipe the better, as I've mentioned it before on here and very few people seem to be fans

A small bit of copper with chrome fittings can just be painted silver and will not be noticed by anyone passing by.

I don't doubt you there Tony, but now I know that I can make up the parts I need for the cost of a little over a tenner to buy the tool, there shouldn't be any need.
