having only just started researching what i need to do i was under the impression that if i go the building control route i wont be filing out the completion certificate as the building control use an inhouse or hired electrician to do the testing needed to fill out the certificate.
my thinking was to pay some one to do the testing before i had BC come out to do their test.
unfortunately when i got the first quote i hadn't arranged the sparkys visit the bricklayer had asked him to come round and hadn't told me so i was art a complete loss of trying to explain what i wanted .
but if the house takes longer it doesn't cost me any extra just delays the completion date .
and as i'm limited buy what i can afford its preferable to take longer and actually spend less.

yes its def going to take longer if i attempt it myself but as i am also going to be most of the other trades (not all plumbing as i i need a hetas plumber due to solid fuel)If your house takes longer to build, it will cost more.
