Indesit WIDL126 washer dryer not drying correctly

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for reading this...

I have an Indeit WIDL126 and when drying clothes it does not get very hot at all and is taking ages to dry the smallest load.

About 8 months ago the heating element blew so I changed this and all was fine but recently this problem has arisen.

I opened it up today and the fan had loads of lint in so I cleaned it out but it is still not getting any warmer.

One thing I noticed when I took the fan off, the gold screw type thing it sat on had 4 cracks in it which im not sure if they are supposed to be there so maybe this is causing the fan not to spin and distribute the heat?

When I put the fan back on, it went round freely when I rotated it however!

Not sure what else it could be, hoping someone can help as I cant afford a new washer-dryer!

does it get warm is the heater working , the 4 splits in the bolt are surposed to be there ,if it gets warm but not hot clean the condenser out thats the bottle under the heater box , flush it out with the cold inlet pipe check the thermal fuse and heater if its cold and dont get warm.

It gets warmish but not hot enough to dry things unless I let it dry for about 3 hours!

Where is the heater box, is this at the back of the machine and what does the condenser look like and do I need any special tools?!

You already removed the heater box to sort out the fan. Under the heater box is a plastic bottle with a big hole in it it goes done the back of the drum its poss full of fluff. Hose that out with a fill hose connected. I take it you have selected high heat. ?

Thanks for reply. I only removed the top of the heater box as the two bolts holding the box onto the drum are fixed solid, I broke a torx screwdriver trying to get them off!! So I managed to scrape tons of fluff out of the condenser but there is still some further down which I cant reach and im not even sure if water will clear it.

When you say use the hose, do you mean the cold water hose feed pipe? Shove that in and turn on the water?

With regards to heat, it doe not have a heat setting when drying.

Sorry to be dumb, but do you mean disconnect the water feed pipe from the back of the machine and put it in the condenser and put it on a wash program and leave it?

THe water pipe feeds into the condenser anyway throught a grey pipe, is your way better to de-fluff it?

No. Switch the mc off shut the door and disconnect the hose ,then put the hose in the condenser and turn the water on. It's like a power flush high pressure water will clear the condenser out. The grey pipe only trickles water in there it's like a dribble so it will not unblock it. The fluff will go into the drum then after that just put it on a pump out cos the drum will fill with water. Make sure door is shut or you will get wet feet.

Make sure door is shut or you will get wet feet.

So just to confirm. Turn the machine off fully. Close the door and with the lid off and heater box top off, disconnect the blue water feed pipe from the back of the machine and wedge it into the top of the condenser and turn the water on and flush it out?

Wont the water start flowing as soon as i disconnect ot from the machine? Or do i have to turn it off at the little stop tap connected to the pipe first and then turn back on once the pipe is in the condenser?

Also how much water do i flush through, how do i know when i have put in enough?!

Update!: Just tried to put the blue pipe in condenser but the grey part that ecures it to the back of the machine would not fit in so thats a no.

I have cleaned out quite a bit of fluff o maybe it will work anyway?

No no put the pipe in the top of the condenser the big hole leave the grey one alone. It's about 2 inches round where you pulled the fluff out , just hold it there for 2 mins. That's all then bolt the heater box back on

Right, I have flushed it out, drained it and its now on a drying cycle. Heres hoping the clothes will get warmer and dry quicker.

If its still not working what else could it be?

Well its looking good. The door glass is much hotter like it used to be so it looks like it has worked.
