Can anyone tell me if it's possible to fine tune an Evolution Rage 3 Mitre saw? When the blade is tilted over on a 45 degree bevel (ie tipped to the left), the mitre angle is no longer 90 degrees. It's more like 88. (Mitre being the turntable adjustment). Its annoying as my mitred skirting boards all have the same small crack at the top. I presume this is the saw blade sagging under its own weight because its a cheap saw but I thought one of you clever chaps might be able to suggest a fix!

Are you sure that the skirting is not cupping or curling?
If the timber is not sitting entirely flat and is curling toward the blade, then the blade will inevitably remove more material than intended.

it will be the plastic pivot bit..
dismantle it and file / scrape / sand off a little on the edge that is making it out of square..

no i mean the castings face might not be flat to each other.
if it's been set up at the factory there might be some play in the fixing bolts that they could align it to 90° when upright.
when rotated the faces push it out of square..
for an exagerated example, cut a tubular object at an angle and rotate one piece by 180°..

I've got one of these, which is ~3 years old now, i have the same problem... I store it on a shelf set to 45 degrees, so it doe's take up so much space..... each time i use it i spend 5minutes checking that it's square, with a suare..... Annoying, but worth the effort to make sure it's accurate. Apart from that i can't really fault TBH...
Yep having had a closer look I don't think there's actually anything wrong with mine. I think that when it's over on the 45 it's tempting to push down rather than diagonally down, which together with the weight of the motor tends to flex on the sliding arm. If I hold the motor up a bit and concentrate on the cut it is squarer.
It is a good saw actually, although the cut isn't as clean as others (splinters) due to low revs and the multi purpose blade. I haven't tried a wood only blade on it yet.
I still think its worth spending more for really accurate work though.

Probably worth splashing out on a good blade with say 80 teeth for fine work. Good idea to have the blades sharpened when they start to wear too.
I bought an my Rage 3 (£99 - Screwfix) as a step up from a 'professional' manual mitre that used a saw which slid up and down on posts (a real piece of junk if you want to use it to cut accurate angles), so I am well impressed with it as an amateur. I am currently using the Rage 3 to cut floor boards and have been struggling with the inaccuracy of straight forward 90 degree cuts. Having found there is no way to fine tune the angles I had the brain wave of using a thin piece of metal (a blunted Stanley knife blade) to stop the red catch from slotting into the pre-set 90 degree slot in the base. I could then use my square to set it to exactly 90 degrees and lock the saw in place. I am now getting perfect ends to my boards. If only I thought of it before I started!

Nosey is spot on. It's rare to get perfectly flat skirting.

ring the manufacturer as its only a few days over the warranty period, you never know and in all honestly they should really fix it or replace it for you as some manufactureres will do it...worth a try...good luck with it..
To answer your question, YES, the evolution rage mitre saws can be adjusted using grub screws they take an hour or so to set up when you first buy one but are fantastic after!! would deffinitely reccomend
