very intersting

No its not.

Been around in one form or another since gunpowder was invented.

Yes it is.

Reminds me of my army days.

When we had set up a defensive position for the night we used to set up trip flares...

I remember in the middle of Salisbury Plain once a courting couple in a car strayed into the training area looking for peivacy.
When the car slowly made its way towards our position \i decided to have some fun. I deliberately pulled the trip flare and called stand to.. this started a volley of blank firing from my section.. I have never seen someone drive so fast or look so scared..lol,
Of course these days you would probably get a right *******ing but in those days my officers thought it was very funny.

yes it is, never seen one of these before,
It is not new. I can clearly recall similar things from the time I spent living with an aunt in the country ( 1950's ). Farmers and game keepers used them and ( if I recall correctly ) not all used blanks. Hence the need to abide by the signs that said "tresspassers may be shot by accident"

surprised its alowed to be used "by anybody"
I expect there are restrictions on use that the seller will not mention.

cheap as chips too.
not much in them is there ? so they can be very cheap to make.

My Grandparents used them on their Farm years ago.
Nothing new here, my mother used to be the one sent out to set them at night against the "poachers".

Better example of how they work here, http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/ALARM_MINES.htm

Can be made up quite easily using a certain fire escape lock a file and of course some wire and a blank :D

As before, just because anyone may have not seen it before does not mean it dose not exist.
