you take other courses off action before depriving the kids like pawning /selling jewelry and other valuables

stop drinking
stop smoking
sky virgin back to the free package
gas electric phone internet swops for best deal
terminate one or more mobile contracts where possible
do odd jobs for friends and family but not for financial gain perhaps for dinner in exchange as gifts and money above a few pounds must be declared
food shopping on line cost around £4 delivery so possibly cheaper than 2 bus fares out and taxi back but at the risk off missing reductions
if a car is not essential then the saving off around £50 per week will be helpfull the actual savings will be greater but extra costs like buses and the odd taxi will bring it down to perhaps £50
