britains hidden hungry

Amazing the priorities that some people have. The 50" plasma seems to be more important then food in their belly. The internet more important than bread. I noticed some had the latest mobile phones too.
When I was unemployed, first thing to get cancelled was my mobile phone contract. I struggled to keep the internet, though, but eventually had to give it up for about a year. Public Library met my internet needs, e-mail, job searches, posts on forums etc. I just can't understand some of the people on the program, keeping these things, and actually going without food just so they have a mobile phone, internet etc. More so the ones with children.

I understand the people recently made redundant who then find the benefits people take time to sort out regular payments etc (but surely, they got some sort of redundancy pay??)

Round our way, the local council takes about 8 - 10 wks to sort out a new claim for housing benefit, yet when you come off unemployment benefit, it only takes the council a few days to stop housing benefit (surprising they can stop it a hell of a lot quicker than it takes them to work it out in the first place)

as i said above the woman had a high powered job when she bought the telly

also you see any goods they are going to be from a catalouge or on the never never in most working low paid households on benefits as there simply wont be the money to buy them outright

Well how do they make the repayments then? Benefits must be way too high if you can use them to pay the 'never-never', and smoke and eat pizza and run cars...

what is the advantage off trying to sell a tv for around 10% off value then have to buy another or are you suggesting she dosent need a tv in her life :?: :?:

You could understand her plight if she had no t.v. 10%? i had to give up driving as i couldn't afford food if i continued.

You should have saved more money then when times were good.

...like i did.

I did as well. Saved for a rainy day. Now it's pouring down and the money's all gone now...

Long-term sick, sick pay expired, SSP expired.....

We can all be astute and try to plan for the future but even when you do you can still get knocked for six financially.

As a foster carer I am now looking after 4 of those hungry kids, mum could not afford to look after them properly, after all 40 cigs a day are not cheap.
She reasured them , she would have their names tattoed on her neck when they went into care,

you take other courses off action before depriving the kids like pawning /selling jewelry and other valuables

car booting

ebaying

stop drinking

stop smoking

sky virgin back to the free package

gas electric phone internet swops for best deal

terminate one or more mobile contracts where possible

do odd jobs for friends and family but not for financial gain perhaps for dinner in exchange as gifts and money above a few pounds must be declared

food shopping on line cost around £4 delivery so possibly cheaper than 2 bus fares out and taxi back but at the risk off missing reductions

if a car is not essential then the saving off around £50 per week will be helpfull the actual savings will be greater but extra costs like buses and the odd taxi will bring it down to perhaps £50
