Why is it a bus driver can drive off without a guard giving him the go ahead? Well he has two mirrors to look in before he moves off.

Laser beam scanning the side of the train for obstructions is hardly an expensive option. Have it over riding the driver or operating green or red lights. No need for the guard then.

We had a beam scanner in front of an industrial 200 ton Bronx press brake. Problem was it was so good at its job it was difficult getting near the machine with small parts.
So I disconnected the lot and removed the scanners.
Yeah that right if someone gets mangeled in the machine I do time.
