Let's play the game of

Who's Next?

I think Wickes and Homebase must be on borrowed time. Any other ideas?

I feel v sorry for the people who work in all these chains - not really their fault the companies have gone belly up.

Not the next company to go but...

What happens to McDonalds when there is no reason to visit the High Street?

Sure they'll try and keep their 'out of town' dog burger places open, but what happens when the supermarkets get in on that act?

How long before UK PLC is a joint Amazon/Tesco venture?

I wonder if we just get what we ask for - we want out of town supermarkets selling everything for convenience, then some people complain that the high street has gone tits up. Surprise surprise.

Ok wabbitpoo, you must have been reading my mind at about 4 o'clock today. That was the exact question I was going to post when I got home from work.

Jewsons? Travis Perkins? WH Smith maybe?

WH Smith are pretty safe with their railway shops...their high street shops might quietly disappear though never see them full nowadays.Homebase deserve to disappear, their prices are a joke.

John Lewis? They hardly ever have anything in stock these days and they tell you to go home and order it online.

Burton's and Dorothy Perkins are shutting their stores in our town.
Argos might be the next to go.

Plenty of pound type stores and charity shops and..................travel agents.

In our town centre like others they will be gone soon and our high street is like hundreds of others , banks, building societys, pound shops ,bookmakers ,charity shops plus the other already empty shops ...I think in the near future the banks/building society will be inside the big supermarkets ,high streets will be flattened

Argos are massive though, huge revenues. They own ALBA and Bush electronics too who seem to do pretty well.

We have new technology to thank for the demise of CD'S, Photographs, Analogue TV, casette tapes, Vinyl records, and a host of other things, everything these days is digital and ephemeral, Books are rapidly going that way too with electronic downloads, we are being subdued by this technology and will as a race, soon lose the ability to think for ourselves.
