No breakdown there of the sexual preference of the offenders though Joe. Could be that 22,900 of the offenders were of a gay persuasion.

i think its extremley sad that people that people assume gay couples are more off a danger than a male and female or single parent combination
the facts are far far more children are abused in the more normal male/female/single houshold than have ever been abused by strangers
would suspect abuse by fosterers off all persuasions would be a very small fraction in comparason to the standard set up

I'm so ashamed of some of the posters on DIYnot sometimes.
I personally think if someone was a gay, and loved another person of the same sex, and both wanted to live and share life together, which is most unfortunate, then they should not demand the same rights as a normal married couple of opposite sex, nor should they expect to be treated like normal people, because they are not normal, and no one is stopping them, but they simply should not go out and broadcast that they are gay, and demand equality, and acceptance, if someone standing next to me was gay, i don't need to know if he is, if he tells me he is gay then either he gets going away from me or I will!
for instance, if I love an elephant and wanted to marry one, provided the elephant also wanted to marry me, i can't expect people to treat me like a normal couple, can i , and the tax man won't give me a married couple's allowance will he? and don't forget an elephant eats a lot of stuff and so i should get 10 times bigger allowance, and as for my children, they bare going to face a hard time in school with their tiny trunks! so quite honestly I should not expect to be treated like a normal person, because something must be quite wrong with me to marry an elephant! and gays are no different ! It is quite wrong for a man to marry another man! or to have sex with another man!

Don't be daft. The kid died after horrific injuries inflicted by his parents.
Provide a realistic scenario where he would be worse off. If he was adopted by a gay couple there would have been at least some checking of suitability and you can be sure those checks would be in depth.
Of course the child would be better off with a gay couple. Absolute nonsense to suggest we don't know otherwise.

All this talk of parental mistreatment is pointless. There are good and bad people of all sexual preferences.
What I think is more important is what happens to the unfortunate child(ren) when they go to school. Kids talk about their mums and dads. Word will inevitably get out that someone had two 'dads' and the discussion will inevitably extend to their personal relationship.
