and it could be an internal one non waterproof if in a dribox? would it need ventilation?

There are many LED Drivers 12v DC
I show one example which would give you the power required. The problem with out door stuff is when it gets warm or hot causes the air around it to expand and likely it will escape.
As it cools it forms a part vacuum and will draw some thing in from outside. This could be water which would be a problem. In a ventilated box like a bird box can stop worse of weather yet allow cooling but one has to look at where it is going and form a judgement. Clearly only you can judge the risks involved.

Apart from appearance, that's fine for a permanent repair if you want.
But keep the dog away - if he'd decided to chew on the mains cable to the socket....
