New ring circuit from socket

Really you try to avoid the use of junction boxes if possible and practicable.
In some cases it is not possible/practicable, but if cables are not jointed in a method that deems them maintenance free, the joints must be placed in a location that is easily accessible.
Personally if possible/practicable, I would install new length of cables rather than create joints, but as above not always possible/practicable to do.

Did your electrician friend of a friend, test the circuit off for you, to prove that it was safe to energise?
Even though he works as a shopping fitting sparks, is fully aware of the requirements concerning domestic installations?

Did you ever confirm the existence of 30mA RCD protection, for buried cables and socket outlets?

Looking forward to seeing the photos you said you were going to put up of the installation.

All sockets are RCD protected. He done the work for me not me. And circuit was tested by him before he left. Plus he give me a receipt and his business card.

So job done very happy now.

Are you sure that's what he has done? The socket with 4 cables in it, are they all connected up to that socket or with blocks within the backbox?

Can you add the existing ring in/out and spur to the pic from the original socket? And anything else connected to the JB?

No socket has 4 cables in it. It had 3 in it and still has 3 now because 1 was took out to go in junction box and ringed back into that socket.

Plus the J.B is a new 1 with just them wires in.

Your picture says otherwise.
You are also missing cables coming into the starting downstairs socket.
You cannot connect this circuit as it is shown in the diagram.

Three plus one 'going back into it' equals 4, doesn't it? More to the point, it's crazy! You really ought to get an electrician to sort that mess out.

Kind Regards, John.

Jimmy the electrician was there a few minutes ago - he tested it and left his business card as well. ;) So it must be correct mustn't it.

No 3 plus 1 going out is 2. Then back to socket is 3 your maths is really bad.

Maybe he should get a non-electrician in, then. I'm sure there's a good few of them around here who have a much clearer idea of 'correct' than what we're looking at :)

Kind Regards, John
