Driving home the other night I had the radio on for a bit of background. On came a song I have heard for years but never really listened to.

Don McLean - Vincent. What a beautiful song.

Anyone care to share the songs they see in a whole new light.

Or how about singers? I've always loved Karen Carpenter and Judith Durhams voices, and the older I get the more I think they were unmatchable. Though maybe that's just the effect of listening to some of the sh1te that gets put forward these days.

Sooey,

Watched a documentary about the Carpenters, you are right about Karen, beautiful voice. Never appreciated it at the time mind you as that was the era I grew up in. Noddy was the man

As a kid in the 70s, I was forced to listen to the Carpenters. I thought Karen Carpenter's voice was creepy.

It's all a matter of taste I suppose, I thought it was creepy how good she was. The songs weren't much cop but the voice was spectacular. Very much like the seekers and Judith Durham, again the songs weren't much but what a singer.

Driving thru` Brighton I seed The Seekers in a whole new light " I wander the streets and the gay crowded places "- Island of dreams -

Vincent is a stupid song. Van Gogh was not even close to the sentiments in that song. He was an unpleasant drunken brawler.

This is gonna sound naff but Tony Christie - real sing along stuff.

I had a crush on her when I was a teen. Always loved her voice, such a shame the way she died because some jumped up jerk of a reporter kept saying she was podgy. Hope his guilt still haunts him.

He had a drink and put it on the 'tab'.
