Hey when drilling and plugging a wall to screw to I have never had a problem before but I am working on a house were when I drill and plug a hole and screw in to it the plug in and the hole keeps spinning so even though the screw is all the way in it keeps turning. What is the cause of this poor brickwork? Is there any way I can stop the plug from turning ?

Squirt some gripfill in the hole and push the plug in. Leave it to set for a while before putting the screw in.

sounds like you are drilling into a hollow space. dot and dabbed plasterboard?

seejhn it before this is one of the results of using dotn and dab for speed cost and convenience and not traditional plastering technique . you won`t be alonen all new builds are built this way. it`s a common problem. not all new building practices work . alas traditional plastering skills are dissappearing as a result

yes sorry I meant a number 12 , 6mm screw thread size. It's not a new build is a old house is just plastered straight on to the brickwork.

Whilst I agree with whole plastering skills disappearing thing, having dabbed walls does not necessarily mean you can not fix to them, rather you would just use longer screws.

Stick 9.5mm plasterboard on the walls.
To what end, vs just having it plastered?

If it's single-storey, could you consider an inner skin of timber studwork, and a cavity down to 25mm?
Thanks for the last suggestion, but stud & plasterboard "walls" are the work of the devil
