Following several discussions on here, Contactum pullcord swithes are deemed the quietest.

I need a couple of 2 way switches. I have looked on line but can't seem to find switches in the style I remember Contactum made.

Where do you buy Contactum from?

A different arangement where the cover twists off to show the wiring, the good point is that the ceiling plaster doesn't get into the switch like normal ones.
Are you saying that the wiring can be exposed 'without use of a tool'? If so, I thought that was only allowed for ceiling roses.

Kind Regards, John

It is on the ceiling. Out of reach?
I agree that common sense would say that a switch on the ceiling whose wiring can be accessed without use of a tool is no different from a ceiling rose - but are you suggesting that the regs subscribe to that common sense?

Of course, I have heard of people arguing that having to stand on a step ladder, milk crate or whatever constitutes 'using a tool' - but I think that is probably stretching things a bit.

Having said all that, my son-in-law is about 6'7" tall, and can touch many ceilings that would be totally 'out of reach' to mere mortals like myself - so would often not even need a ladder or crate!

Kind Regards, John

No, not necessarily. I was just using common sense.

After it has been painted a couple of times a tool from Mr. Stanley will be needed.

6'7" doesn't count; the regulations only do average.

No, not necessarily. I was just using common sense.
Yes, I realise that and, as I said, I agree with your common sense. I was just commenting on the fact that (if one forgets common sense) it could well be that the switch that was described to us would not be technically compliant with the regs.

Kind Regards, John

You could push it.
