Here's one for you Red,

Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life.

Take the quote in the context in which it was first used, i.e. Cecil Rhodes, who went on to declare independence from South Africa because he wanted, along with his supporters, to keep native Africans subservient to white people, in the belief that white people were superior to black people, and you'll see why it so racially abhorrent.

Of course the native Africans have proved other wise.

If it wasn't for Rhodes just think there wouldn't be a need for Mugabe, remind me how much better it is with him in charge.

I notice they are evacuating holiday makers from Kenya,is it cause they are white.
Back to the old faithful "Africa was better under aprtheid" It's been done to death several times before. But you want to go over old ground again.
Talk sense, not nonsense.

abusiuve behaviour in public is unacceptable.
Don't try to weasel out of it by throwing in old discarded discussions.

But it's impossible to use the word 'England' or 'English' in a racist context, or 'white' for that matter.
Well that's wierd because I was accused of being racially abusive when I used a corruption of whitespirit's username.

Still stands, you referred to him as whiteshite. You apologised that's like Adams being the IRA apologist, hollow words.
You wouldn't recognise integrity if it jumped up and bit your backside.
You're one of the worst abusive posters and you have the audacity to accuse someone else of being abusive.
Pot, kettel, black.

Given that you disassociate yourself from racists, seems a strange place to hang out?
Repetitive, regurgitated nonsense:
I have, in my life, privately and publicly disassociated myself from racists and criminals, and they've known why.
Interesting. By "disassociated" meaning gone, distanced, don't talk with them or want to know them. And yet you don't do the same here. (Cough). If I weren't such a gentleman I might accuse you of walking the walk but not talking the talkies...
Do you really need me to provide a definition of disassociation.
Come on, BT, I expect better of you than that.
I used the word disassociate, not distance, myself from racists and criminals.
An example for your perusal, a policeman would disassociate himself from criminals, but he could not distance himself without failing in his duty.
Just a few posts above yours

Sorry I didn't see the subsequent post... I don't know why you didn't just refer me to that post instead of being offensive?

You're not very well mannered.

Sorry, gn, but I think it's normal etiquette to read posts sequentially. I do, so that I don't embarrass my self by raising a point that has already been covered.
I assume others do so too.
Incidentally, it was an earlier post to yours, not a subsequent one.
And I did refer you to that post.

It was subsequent to the post where you stated your dissociation; yes I normally read the posts sequentially, however, on this occasion I overlooked/missed the post where you clarified your position, still no need for you to be rude, you don't come across as a very tolerant person.

I'm not embarrassed... saddened by your lack of tolerance but not embarrassed.

See thats where you go wrong I asked a question and you immediately assume one says that things were better then, mind the number of Elephants/Rhino's being slaughtered now would lend weight to it.

OK, I'm not a very tolerant person when it comes to people being too lazy to read the posts to avoid their own embarassement.
You, on the other hand, jump to criticism before checking if there's anything that you've not done, that you ought to have.
So do you also, not only display a lack of tolerence, but also display a degree of courtesy when the misunderstanding was your fault?

I really don't want to continue discussing who displays the least tolerance.
It's an utter waste of time and only leads to loads and loads of pages of drivel.

The sad fact is: you didn't read the posts and repeated a question that had been already asked.

Now if you think that was my fault, then I disagree, moreover, I will not be swayed from my disagreement, so any further discourse is pointless.

It wasn't down to laziness, I clicked reply after your initial post and was interrupted before I pushed the post button, I returned then posted in the meantime further posts had been made.

It wasn't criticism it was a question, you make this place seem quite unfriendly. :(

Yeah.
I made my fist relevant comment at 12.11 on the Thurs.
I made my second comment to BT, about the difference between disassociation and distancing 4 hours later at 5.21.
You asked your repetitive question at 5.21 on the Fri, more than 24 hours later.
That was some interruption.

Now, I'm happy to leave it there. But if you want to pursue it further, you might be digging a bigger hole for youself.

It wasn't criticism it was a question, you make this place seem quite unfriendly.
It can be unfriendly at times. Have you not noticed?
It was ever thus so.
But if you want to blame me for all the ills of GD forum, OK.

Yes, it was a big interruption, never mind.

Most members on here seem quite friendly, you cast a bit of a nasty vibe about the place... it's a shame, good manners don't cost anything. :(

So it is all my fault that GD forum has so much abuse flying around.

Where were you when the racial abuse was being used?

Or is your animosity reserved for me?
If so, why?

Everyone else I've conversed with has been quite friendly, though granted it's not many members, so maybe there's a whole lot of rude posters I've yet to encounter.

What racial abuse are you referring to?

I've no animosity towards you, we did clash on an earlier thread and I did resort to rudeness, which is something I'm not proud of, but it was in response to some rather rude comments made by yourself; I did offer an olive branch after the aforementioned clash but sadly you didn't respond. :(

Yes, my sentiment exactly Groov. (My dear ole mum used to say the same).

That's why I leave threads, you get to a point where you dread the reply. Just bear in mind he is only after 'the kill'. So no matter what you say he will try to discredit you. It's quite insidious..
