Turning one 4-light fixture into 4 downlighters?

In my bathroom I've got one light fitting with 4 GU10 lights facing different directions, I want to turn this into four seperate downlighters. I don't know much about it but I'm willing to learn, where is the best place to find out how to go about this? Is it simple or quite complicated and what will I need? I'm redoing my bathroom and want to do this at the same time, but getting someone in is simply out of the budget unfortunately.

Edit: Bit more information just incase, above the bathroom is a loft which has easy enough access.

I would advise you to just replace it with a 'normal' efficient light fitting.

Why is that? And I've had a look at that but can't find much information on specifics like if I can just wire direct or it needs anything specific or what type of wiring?
