Using opera, the text editing box is slow, slow, slow ... text appaearing at about 1 character per second. Makes typing very difficult and reminiscent of the days when everything ran at 300 baud.

The 'thread title' box is unaffected.

On my iPad it is the same, so much on the fly scripting going on its resource thirsty. Phones fine. My iPad is old though, a 3.

Far from ideal , but can you try clicking into the BBCode editor (which is a more basic entry system) and seeing if it exhibits similar problems.

The button I mean is the right most button on the editor, looks like this (the page with the spanner on):

Yes, BB Code editor is much more responsive. It's a usable workaround for the minute.

It should be irrespective which browser is used. If a simple edit box is so resource hungry then it needs fixing.

I agree it should be, but browsers are a large, possibly bloated, applications which do a lot of work - there's no reason per se why they should all be equally performant. I've noticed no problems with Firefox.

But the reason I asked was that if you use Firefox there's a very good add-on from Codefisher to handle BBCode.

No, but I significantly prefer it and have it set up to work the way I want with about 40 - 50 websites. Bookmarks, cookies, 3rd party content, stylesheets, etc.
