Can these pipes be moved back?

Just out of interest how many quotes did you get?
Also if you got more thn one was he cheapest? By a lot?
Its not your fault you got a numpty installer, you obviously thought as he was on check a trade and GSR that he was competant, dickheads like that installer give the rest of us a bad name.
If you get the guy on here to do it it will be spot on he knows his stuff also you can show us his work afterwards if its crap!

What should be used to seal the hole on the outside? I don't think what he has used is in any way effective

Just a thought what happens when this installer (who obviously cant solder) has to run a gas pipe under a floor?

The gas pipe is Clipped to the wall using nail in fixings which is a no no, must be held Off the wall to prevent corrosion of the pipe, Guys clearly usless looking at the pics, but compression is allowed on the gas pipe as long as their accesible for testing and inspection (ie can use a compression on a gas pipe under the floor etc)

Even the poorest installers I regularly see can solder a pipe all be it messy as hell.

That is the Worster flue so at least it is the flue that came with the boiler.

Is it the boiler or the cupboard thats squint? Fitted one for a mate earlyer in the year and looks like I made a pigs ear of it but infact the boiler is spot on but the kitchen cupboard is well squint lol.

I got three quotes. He was cheapest but he was quoting for a different boiler. The other 2 quoted for a classic he quoted for a CDI compact. He was about £500 cheaper from memory. To be honest I didn't go with him because he was the cheapest but because I got along well with him and he seemed like an honest guy who gave me all the different options. I now realise this was just sales tactics. A learning step for next time. The problem is it was still a lot of money for me. The wife wants him to come back out and sort it. I am in 2 minds. I would rather get someone else but am also ****ed off at the guy and want him to sort his mess out.

The Gas Safe Card and qualification means sweet F All when it comes to compentency or ability, and even somonbe who has got their gas safe qualification doesnt need any knowledge of "Heating" installation to get it, its an open book multiple choice exam and a practical that they pretty much walk you through, more of a money making scheme that unfortunatly we need to do rather than proof of any actual expirience or knowledge.

out of curiosity how much did he chard for it all? was it a combi before?

Wow.... ! The boilers not even straight on the bloody wall!
So looking at the picture you took, underneath the boiler inside the cupboard, he's tied the filter to the gas pipe ( with the 22 comp elbow )

Surely gas safe will do something about this?
They soon jumped on me over something ridiculous !

They should defect the gas pipe touching the outside wall (construction material), where he's used a hammer clip.
But it is a little minor compare tot he rest of the install.
I got defected for using copper saddle clips - on my first inspection circa 1990 . I used saddle clips as they look a damn sight better than white clips, especially after a short while.

The weird thing is with the gas safe- when I type his name in the search it shows no one. However when I type his ID it does show him and it does appear to be him.

So if he does come back what should I get him to do- fit filter vertically, move pipes to the back wall without a big gap. Tidy up the sealant on the outside- anything else? Would that then make this an acceptable job?

I think you'll find him incapable of 'tidying it up'. At least the house is still standing, consider you've had a lucky escape -

and console yourself with the fact that at £500 cheaper than all the competition he's probably made next to nothing out of his bum job.

Flue collars are the wrong way to! That has to be the worst I've seen for a while, sorry you got ripped off!! And a worcester to boot!

Good luck with it.

Plumbers/ gas fitters on this thread, is this the consequence of 6 week courses for anyone with enough £££. If this is the way it's going, it's gonna get a lot more dangerous out there!(n)

I recon there was an ideal classic there before.

That's an absolute mess.

It's an awkward situation.
contact him and say there are a few things you'd like to be looked at.
If he refuses you could call Gassafe in who can enforce any gas issues.
However they cannot do anything about the filter, pipe work routes etc (general workmanship)

Can't think of anyone I know who would do a job that bad

No offence but I'm actually struggling to believe this isn't a wind up. If it's kosher it all needs ripping out and refitting from scratch by a competent fitter, you can at least reuse the boiler...............

Even if it's a woofter :ROFLMAO:
