Hey everybody, so recently my boiler has started giving a hard time.

I went out the other day (mind you it was extremely cold) and when i came back the boiler wasnt working as good. The downstairs rad were cold and upstairs were just about warm but still had flowing hot water through the taps. I checked the pump, all good, and the rad were bleeded out.

Fast forward a day and the boiler is not firing up at all and no hot water or rad working. Like even if you turn the knob, you dont hear that clicking/ticking sound its as if the boiler is completely dead; its control box is still working (that separate white box thingy) and can still hear the pump moving water up to the tank so i am assuming the fuse hasnt gone? Can someone please help? I am a complete novice so some advice would be nice, before i dish out on a new boiler!

Thanks in advance

Bob, start by checking the overheat.
When was this boiler last serviced?
You say " boiler was not working as good" what do you mean by that?

EDIT: For some strange reason I read Suprima! Advice not relevant

Sounds like the boiler had not long stopped working so there was still residual heat in the rads and cylinder that was lost after a while.

It was last serviced about a year ago and it was working fine up until two days ago.

Check the overheat? What do you mean by that, if you dont mind me asking, if so how do i check it?

By the boiler not working as good, it was heating up as usual. I mean the boiler appeared to be working, but the radiators werent hot as usual

This boiler has an over heat reset. Look or feel and you will find a small drop down cover in the bottom cover. This little cover is only about the size of a finger. You can't do any damage by pressing the button once found.

Ok, so the boiler was or is able to fire up. So you have lots of hot water but not hot rads? Is this correct?

I just tried pressing the overheat reset switch and nothing happened

well yesterday it did fire up but only for like a minute or two but still provided hot water. Today its absolutely nothing, neither is it firing or proving any hot water

There is no fan spinning or humming, its just silent. usually you would hear a clicking when you turn the control thermostat but strangely there is none of that either

Serviced a year ago. Id say its due its annual visit;)
