So Brexit was all about an antisemitic antipodean playing a character that declares freedom a few years before their country loses it?

Yes exactly, how very perceptive of you. But please don't consider the sentiment portrayed in the clip you apparently dont understand it,

Having grown up the shadow of the monument that is named after him (Wallace that is, not Mel gibson) I think I understand the sentiment perfectly. I just struggle to understand people like you.

So you view being in the EU as servitude? I look forward to your reaction when you find we have to abide by the same rules, and yet have no say in them.
Go team!

Never did have a say in anything really, makes little difference if in the EU or not.

Never had a say ......so the EU beurocrats who we never voted for and couldn't remove dictated to the UK what laws and regulations we had to obey, we have now ditched through the referendum .......never did have a say WELL WE HAVE NOW !!!!!

What where/are those laws and regulations that we have now ditched? Fisheries, farming? Terrorism? Not being allowed to work over 48 hours? Are we to have more powerful hoovers again? What about light bulbs? Or are you only thinking about immigrants?

Do we really have a say? Some of the things that seem to matter to the little guy didn't really come from the EU. Did the disabled and vulnerable who suffered the worst cuts have a say? Did people do anything when at the same time, the rich got tax cuts? Did we do anything about as a collective? Did we change anything, did we tell the government not to do things, or more importantly, did they listen? What about the NHS and the continual cuts and interference by government? The EU didn't interfere as much in those types of decisions. The government are supposed to work for the people, that ideal has long since gone. Not being in the EU I suspect will make very little difference in our power as little people or have our voice heard, we still have a bunch of people who have self-interest at heart in charge. Just a lot less of them now and we won't pay for the 'privilege'.

To cheekily borrow ELF's picture (thanks ELF)

Apart from when we did.
We are a major player in the EU. We are throwing that away.
Thrown away.
Were we really a major player in decisions for the UK? What about when Cameron went begging to get the EU to allow the UK to curb migrant benefits for example? It's not about the migrants issue but because of the having to beg and haggle. I voted remain but things like that got on my nerves and can totally see why people voted leave.

Whilst having a say in the EU is preferable to not having a say, being one of twenty eight doesn't often result in getting what you want if you disagree with the fundamental principles.
The same applies to Scotland in the UK - so a lot want to leave.
That's the trouble with democracy which is held up as the magic solution unless the result is not that which was required by those who manipulate it.

However, those who now think that Britain will turn into Utopia and be run for the benefit of the people either have very short memories or are just naive.

It will still be run by big business, vested interest, money, the same ruling class and the privileged.
Only, soon there will be no stopping them - yes, of course you will be able to oust your M.P. every four years if your neighbours agree with you - but they rarely do - and so what? What difference does it make?
