It does sound like a crap idea - internment - but you have to ask yourself, what IS the end-game here.....either someone decides on a VERY drastic solution or things WILL get worse.

What can you tell us about the Good Friday agreement? Lech Walesa's leadership in Poland? Nelson Mandela being let out of prison? Were they all totally unsuccessful in bringing an end to decades of violence?

Wasn't it the policy of interning the families of Boer guerillas that broke the stalemate in S.Africa.
Although the policy was inhumane and I wouldn't support it myself it did achieve its aim of bringing the war to an end.

Of course I'm not happy with ISIS, but the way some on here seem to leap to their defence as soon as they're mentioned, makes me wonder if some on here are.
