It's widely known that plumbers make a fortune.

Soooo -

what paid for his car, then?

If it would be cheaper for the {council ?} whoever, to have their own vehicle, would that be back to crap management?

In the private sector you wouldn't get that kind of allowance ...and that was 15 years ago ! Pays his mortgage shows it's disproportionate .......public sector hard up !

What about the reports claiming the public sector pension liabilities are unsustainable !

I never understand these kinds of posts. So what is it, jealousy or anger? If you wanted that kind of treatment, why didn't you go and work for the public sector?

Anyway, when was this 75p a mile? How does this work when PAYE? Forgive me for being thick on this, but isn't the tax allowance much less than 75p a mile? So who paid the extra tax on the mileage expenses? Does sounds like he didn't have much of a mortgage or he drove a stupid amount for work and worked long hours, like really long :-)

Gasbanni is not renowned for being truthful. Take his posts with a pinch.

The issue is that workers in the private sector pay for the benefits of those employees in the public sector.

I think public sector pay was booming in the blair govt. Very high pay for roles and responsibilities. The squeeze has normalised that. Everyone can think of some who do vital roles on low pay, but that's true everywhere.
