I'm not so sure that clocking them is as easy as it onece was, I'm pretty sure that the milage data is stored in the ECU, though not 100%You'd need to clock it regularly, before each service and when handing it back. I'm sure it's easy when you know how.

To be fair, if I owned a lease company, the first thing that I would do would be to interogate the ECU when the van was returned, so I think that my best bet is to keep it all above boardI would think if you alter it it will record the alteration - like fitting a new speedo or odo.
I am sure the companies will have thought of it, anyway.
They may even have it bugged.

That's been my trouble all my life.I suspect they don't think people they lease cars to are that smart. These type of people know all the tricks, think they're smarter than others, so wouldn't even consider someone would try and outsmart them.

Maybe I'm just a suspicious old sod but I would checkI suspect they don't think people they lease cars to are that smart. Or, just don't drive it very much, but brag about having one anyway.Or get someone to clock the speedo; apparently it's easy with a laptop - not that I acutally recommend this be done of course.
