Adjustable up & down

The top half shines directly up, I need it to shine at an angle.
I dunno - I still don't get it.

That light shines directly up and washes over the wall.

If you could angle it you would be able to choose between pointing it more at the wall so that it washes over less of it, or away from the wall so that it washes over none of it.

The wall washers shine directly up. Just straight up

I need to set it at a 45deg angle

2 lights either side so they need to shine up the 2 sides of the 'triangle'

The penny has just dropped. After the recent business with the inline dimmer I'm wondering if this isn't my day.

Does it have to be a light that does both up and down? Could you have ones shining down where they currently are, and one in the centre shining up at the house name/number?

Could you have an illuminated name/number?

What about soffit lighting?

Haha one of those days!! Yeah need to be 2 either side...so soffits on gable end...house name is in stone about 6-7m above ground

I doubt you'll get the illumination even if you did find one - reduction in intensity will drop roughly by square of distance, so you'd find it hard to read in the presence of the rest of the light reflecting back off the wall. Will the house number even be visible given the angle of incidence on it?

I'd suggest something local to the number or alternatively a spotlight not mounted to the same plane i.e. in your garden or whatever.

Thanks, may have to be a ground light to shine up, will have to be pretty strong/bright though, what would you recommend?

What about a linear LED wall-washer mounted just under the house name? If you get an RGB, or RGBW one, with the right controller you could go all festive in a few weeks time.

Forgive me:

This picture from my original link and also sunshine's link.
It may not, as said, be very effective at illuminating the number, but

is the wall illuminated by this light?

It may be pointing vertically straight up (and down) - but not all the light goes straight up (or down).
