Have you met many poor children or just the ones you read about in the Daily Wail?

He's refering to the children that are not poverty stricken, the ones that come from dysfunctional families with terrible value systems. That's not poverty, that's bad parenting. The sort of crud (your type) that vote Labour for the handouts.

Here in the UK, we give £1.6 million a year to multibillionaire James Dyson,

Which of course he is entitled too under the eu farm subsidy system. As of course are the other wealthy uk farmers who receive £3billion every year.
Its called the CAP. The Common Argicultural Policy.
Dreamt up by your beloved EU.
Neither is it cheap for the average taxpayer. Although farmers only make up 5.4pc of Europe’s population, they account for 47pc of the EU budget.
Wealthy belligerent farmers across Europe demanding more money for their efforts is one of the best reasons yet to end the fatally flawed European project.
Don't you agree?
:D

And if you owned 25,000 acres, you'd be hoovering up the generous subsidies also.
Hypocrite.

But I am not a billionaire landowner, or Ian Duncan Smith, or the editor of the Daily Wail, or a retired plumber with property investments. I am just an ordinary UK citizen. I am very willing for the UK to cap payments to rich landowners.

As I mentioned before, this is within EU rules.

What a shame the government of England has chosen to be needlessly generous to rich landowners, rather than applying EU rules for the benefit of all.

"EU rules allow Member States to cut substantially so-called “basic payments” under the CAP to large landowners, such as most of those cited in the Greenpeace report, by applying an upper limit (ceiling). Nine Member States do so.

In the UK, such a ceiling is applied in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales – with the resulting funds generated remaining in those regions for rural development projects.

The UK chooses not to apply a ceiling in England."

Give money to the rich, give doughnuts to the obese.

Makes perfect sense.

What a shame roger chooses to make up fiction.

You seem to be implying eu rules are applied to french farmers.
Your living in cloud cuckoo land.
No surprise you won't find fault with the eu but choose instead to blame the English government.
Idiot.

Your mate Blair destroyed the family unit, so how do you account for that ?
Blair is nowt to with me boyo.
What have subsequent governments done since his tenure? I'm sure they have had ample time to make things even worse.(y)

Oh I see he craftily diverted the thread into an attack of indigenous scrounging white chavs. I'm all for that.(y)

Just remind me what this thread was about.........

My Dad was fond of a drink but it was hard work to put up with it sometimesm

From a "broken" / split family as well. Some use this as an excuse, I used it as the grounds how not to bring my children up.

If you've experienced the bad and come through the other end it makes you a better person and parent imho..

Im very sorry to hear that. It really is a horrible thing to cope with in a family.
Me Ma is a pragmatic drunk so it only became a problem when other stuff was mixed in. Otherwise my upbringing was no different from any other child growing up in the late 70's in a broken home.

Early 80's for me, you codger:)

Parents set an example to their kids; what to aspire to, or what not to aspire to.
