All this caper in the news about that women who got sentenced to 3 years for carrying tramadol

tablets in her luggage . There an illegal drug in Eygpt .

How about some eygptian coming to the UK committing some illegal offence & then saying

"well its legal in Eygpt" Oh well thats alright then !!!!!!!!!!

abide by the rules of the country u are visiting or do not go there imho.

tbh dunno why any one wants to go to that **** hole for an holiday any way

Odd that her boyfriend didn't warn her of the dangers.

yep its a tough old life

go to Rome than do as Rome does. makes me laugh tbh , we are the 1st to bleat on about foriengners abiding by our laws , but assume we can go out there & do as we please ??????????

There's lot of mention of this "boyfriend", but I see nor hear anything from him at all on the news, but lots of comment by other friends/family.

She's being accused of trying to smuggle them in, but someone pointed out that the value was less than half the cost of her fare, so wouldn't be a justifiable smuggling operation. She signed a statement saying what had happened, and the judge decided that it could be accepted as a "confession". Interesting how they do things over there.

I was reading about the legal back log of cases in India , thousands of cases 10's of thousands of cases

8 years to come to court & in some cases they have to drop the case because the people or plaintiffs or accused are dead

the value

do you mean the retail price, when bought from a UK pharmacist using a doctor's prescription?

Or do you mean the black-market price, down a shady alley, from an Egyptian drug dealer?

You do know these are an opioid?

I have no idea on how they priced the tablets, I'm only reporting the story that I read - try asking them.

Please refer to my first reply.

You do know these are an opioid substitute for morphine, don't you

Funnily enough I do, and thank you for asking John. As I understand it, they apparently are the strongest painkillers that you can get, and there is a serious drug use issue in Egypt with them.

Does make you wonder how she got hold of so many, as they are only supposed to be available on prescription. I wonder if anyone will start doing any checks this end.

I was on Tramadol prior to my hip replacements and it is a controlled drug in the UK even on prescription, the first time I went to pick some up I had to show my passport, and sign a form ,so yes where did she get so many?

There are some odd things about this case.

How did she get hold of 290 tramadol tablets? Who is goung to have that many 'sparr' tablets?

Tramadol in the UK is a class C drug: selling it giving it away is illegal. Possession is illegal without a prescription.

Its an Opioide so addictive.

Why was she going on holiday if she has a husband there? Some media say he is a partner or boyfriend rather than husband.....

Its seems unlikely she is guilty of smuggling, I hope she can be released soon.

Maybe Boris could put in a good word

Tramadol has a reputation for improving alertness and male sexual stamina.
Qualities much sought after in a country where people often have several jobs to make ends meet and where few women find it easy to experience orgasm because of wide spread female genital mutilation.
If IS continue they'll soon all be killed off in suicide attacks. And then only the snake left to kill.

Why do you think that?

Well I dont think it makes sense she is guilty of smuggling for financial gain, although Ive no idea what sort of street value tramadol has in Egypt -Its unlikely to have a big value like cocaine or other class A.

She may genuinely not have known it was an illegal drug, but then if you are taking 290 tablets, you should do the research I guess

Is the partner really suffering from back pain? -I suppose she may have been groomed by him, he could be a dealer.......
