Watching this programme on BBC1 at the moment. It’s about youngsters being shot and stabbed to death in London. Still waiting to see a white faced suspect or victim. 100% black teenagers so far so why do they get so upset about this stop and search when it’s carried out on black teenagers? It’s not racist. If only black people are going around stabbing and shooting others, why waste time searching any other ethnicity? If it was white 60 year old males committing these offences, I’d expect to stopped and searched for the good of the community and not, for example, 30 year old Asians.

Usual stories about the victims though - salt of the earth, pillar of the community, loved their mum and wouldn’t harm a fly. Except the times when they were serving a prison sentence for violent assault and dealing drugs.

Certainly some regions of the UK do have far higher ratios of murders and stabbings that are black perpetrators and victims.

And in the past authorities have shied away from honest discussions about the issue.

But stop and search isnt a major solution. It only works with intelligence back up and is only suitable in specific closeky controlled areas.

Yes it is, ask any copper.

Clearly you havent asked any copper, or you wouldnt be wrong as usual.

A report by the college of policing says stop and search is only slightly effective at best.

this study highlighted that higher rates of stop and search were
occasionally followed by very slightly lower rates of crime. The inconsistent nature and low
strength of these associations, however, provide only limited evidence of stop and search
having had a meaningful deterrent effect. Thus, it is important not to overstate the benefits of
stop and search, particularly at a force or borough level. Even if the analysis provided ‘proof’ of
deterrence, it would suggest that extremely large increases in stop and search, of a scale likely
to be unacceptable to some communities, would only deliver modest reductions in crime.

Poor old fillyboy spouts off as usual :ROFLMAO:

Oh, that must be why the black community don’t like it, because it’s ineffective. They’re just trying to save the police time and money.

Yes, it is racist. If you define a demographics potential behaviour merely by the age, skin colour & where they happen to live, then you are a racist.

The black community often do approve stop and search. Do you think families in those communities like seeing their sons knifed to death?

Instead of feeding your prejudice why dont you look further into these issues......

Boris Johnson has only increased stop and search because he understands there are plenty of voters that believe it works. Johnson isnt doing it based on evidence.

The problem is lenient punishment. Dealers know that if they get caught they'll be out soon enough and back dealing. And they get pretty good at avoiding getting caught too.
But the problem is supply and demand - while people want to buy drugs, dealers will be found to sell them. To ever tackle the problem we need huge resources in education, social welfare etc. along with legalising some drugs. We need to make illegal drug dealing harder for all, until then, the problem will get worse.

First definition of racism:

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Nobody believes there's a superior race and nobody has any prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against anyone.
Simply the statistics should play a major part in policing, so if drugs are statistically sold mainly by green skinned 95 year old ladies, this category of people should be stopped and searched a lot more than many others.
Stopping a churchgoer 18 year old blue skinned hooded male knowing that they don't sell drugs would just be a waste of time.

That's just your biased take on it. I couldn't give a toss what you think as you have proved yourself time and time again to be an argumentative ****.

I can't believe this thread has gone past 10 posts without Elly chipping in and getting it shut down. Perhaps he/she is still asleep?
