No, thats what the complaint is about.

They say it doesnt celebrate sexuality.......
Why would anyone feel the need to celebrate someone's sexuality?
Why do we not celebrate Alan Turing's sexuality?
Quentin Crisp, Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, Noel Coward, etc?

Dunno?

Notchy seems to think that the only relevant complaints were from lesbians. He mentions them a heck of a lot in his posts.

How can anyone be sure that Anne Lister was a lesbian?
Surely someone can have love for another without it determining their sexuality.

If we start celebrating peoples' sexuality it is a slippery slope to having to declare one's sexuality.
Imagine peoples' eulogy, "I was a friend of 'Tom Cobbly, who was a homsexual/hetrosexual, for umpteen years, etc....."

Additionally, Anne Lister may not have seen herself as a lesbian, and may be unhappy at being 'declared' a lesbian, by other people.

Go and argue your point with those that are complaining.

I see, you think I should not usr the word lesbian in a thread discussing exactly that?

Dont you like me mentioning the word lesbian. Are you homophobic?

Go and ask those complaining.

Do you not understand Anne Lister is considered the first modern lesbian -hence why the need for some to complain.

They arent happy as non conforming gender can apply to everybody, might as well call her homo sapien

No you don't see.

No. I think you should consider that it was not just lesbians complaining and that not all the complaints were about the word lesbian. YOU put the emphasis on lesbians.

Dont you like me mentioning the word lesbian
I don't mind.

Are you homophobic?
No. Are you? Or are you just scared of lesbians or frightened of women in general?

You appear to be representing the view of those that signed the petition, in this forum, contrary to my view, so I am discussing it with you.

I can only assume that you meant that you no longer wanted to discuss it?

Women in face coverings unnerve him remember.

What if they were lesbian too, or even unsure of their sexuality?

racist abuse (repeat offender).

I did not put the emphasis on the word Lesbian, I noted that the newspaper reports made that point.

That is the emphasis of the story.

Do you have reports that say it should say something else.

If you read my post, I note it may not only be Lesbians complaining.
Perhaps you put in a complaint, I dont know.

I understand fully their grievance, but it does not answer my question, "why would anyone want to celebrate someone's sexuality?"
I can fully understand why a "gender-nonconforming" attitude and behaviour might be a cause for celebration, but someone's sexuality?
A description of "homosexual" could apply to those people that I listed previously, and many more, but I am reasonably certain that they would have wanted to be known for their other achievements rather than their sexuality.
