Hello guys.

Building materials are expensive so I am looking to buy engineering bricks from the cheapest supplier. Sth London, Croydon, Surrey area.

Any ideas please ?.

Google builders merchants and ring around for some prices, should be around 50p a brick.

Or wait outside a building site and offer services for bricks as payment.

Instead of buying engineering bricks (expensive) why not just buy ordinary (cheaper) bricks?

I saw these top tips on Martin Lewis's money saving site ......

Turn bricks on edge and save approx 1/3. (y)

Build the extension smaller and save pro-rata. (y)

Buy a house with an existing extension. (y)

Move to Durham where the bricks are free with every 5kg of coal. (y)

Thanks for all ideas.

It will be a cavity wall, bricks on external leaf, so I thought that, like hollow concrete blocks, filled with concrete, engineering bricks would make a stronger wall.

It depends; what are you building?
